What is Truth?

"Jesus answered, 'I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.'" - John 14:6

"For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ." - John 1:17

Jesus lived among us, full of grace and truth...
"The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth." - John 1:14

The truth comes through Jesus' teachings...
"To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, 'If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.'" - John 8:31-32

God's word of truth gives us new birth...
"He chose to give us birth through the word of truth, that we might be a kind of firstfruits of all he created." - James 1:18

Truth is something God desires...
"Surely you desire truth in the inner parts ; you teach me wisdom in the inmost place." - Psalm 51:6

Truth is found in God's laws...
"Do not snatch the word of truth from my mouth, for I have put my hope in your laws." - Psalm 119:43

God is the God of truth...
"Into your hands I commit my spirit; redeem me, O LORD, the God of truth" - Psalm 31:5

God's truth can protect us...
"Do not withhold your mercy from me, O LORD; may your love and your truth always protect me." - Psalm 40:11

God speaks the truth...
"I have not spoken in secret, from somewhere in a land of darkness; I have not said to Jacob's descendants, 'Seek me in vain.' I, the LORD, speak the truth; I declare what is right." - Isaiah 45:19

God seeks those who worship in spirit and in truth...
"Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks." - John 4:23

Truth doesn't necessarily come through learning...
"...always learning but never able to acknowledge the truth." - 2 Timothy 3:7

There is no truth in the devil...
"You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father's desire. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies." - John 8:44

God speaks truth through His prophets...
"You may say to yourselves, 'How can we know when a message has not been spoken by the LORD ?' If what a prophet proclaims in the name of the LORD does not take place or come true, that is a message the LORD has not spoken. That prophet has spoken presumptuously. Do not be afraid of him." - Deuteronomy 18:21-22
