So you’ve heard about our problem (sin) and the result of our sin (separation from God). You’ve also been introduced to God’s solution to our problem, a problem that we could never solve on our own (Titus 3:5a – “he saved us not because of the righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy.”). |
Once you’ve heard of God’s solution (His gift of salvation through Jesus), the next step is to respond. Really there are only two responses to God’s gift, Jesus’ sacrificing His life on the cross: to believe and trust Jesus to save you from your sin, or to reject Jesus and remain separated from our Creator, God.
John 3:36 speaks to those who have rejected Jesus – “Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God's wrath remains on him." Anyone who rejects God’s gift of salvation from sin will receive the full punishment of their sin – eternal death and separation from God.
|
So what is the other response to God’s gift? Jesus himself said “The time has come…. The kingdom of God is near. Repent and believe the good news!" (Mark 1:15). To repent is to turn away, or change direction – to walk away from sin in your life. To believe is to actively trust. You believe in your favorite chair every time you sit on it. You trust it will not collapse and drop you. |

|
Take a moment now to decide what your response will be. Will you repent of your sins, believe in Jesus and trust Him to save you? Ask God to help you decide. He hears you, He knows your every thought, and He loves you! God can forgive you and help you to believe... |
If you have believed and trusted that Jesus died for your sin and that He rose from the grave victorious over sin and death, you are a child of God – no longer separated from Him. John 1:12 says “Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God”. Please let us know about your experience by clicking here.

Salvation and God’s gift do not stop at the moment you believe, but God continues to work in your life to free you from your sinful habits. If you believe, you now have a relationship with the one true God. Jesus says in John 10:10b “I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” Your Lord wants you to experience a joyful life free from sin and full of dependence on Him. |
|
After you trust and believe Jesus for your salvation, there are other responses to God you will want to identify in your life as you grow in your relationship with Him.
